Figma (the tool I use to design my visuals) recently rolled out a few updates that got me excited.
If you like to explain ideas visually and want a style that feels more hand-drawn and authentic, you’ll like this one.
A while ago, I shared a post about the tools I use. Plus, it explained the difference between vector and raster graphics. In short: vector is clean and flexible — like PDFs or logos. Raster feels more human and expressive — like sketches or photos.
Now, with this Figma update, you can get the best of both. More personality, more texture — all while keeping the benefits of vector graphic.
There are essentially two features you need to go play with that will do all of this: stroke brush and texture effect.
First, here’s how lines can look now — and they’re still vectors. That means you can scale them infinitely without losing quality.
You can also use similar techniques to make the fills look more authentic.
What’s really cool is you can apply the same techniques to fonts, turning even the blandest ones like Arial into something more creative and authentic.
If you’re in my community, jump into the Tip of the Day channel — you’ll find a video walkthrough and a Figma file you can duplicate to explore all the stuff yourself.
While I don’t have immediate plans to change my style, I’m pretty excited about how much more variety this unlocks for others.
That said, I’m working on a new free wallpaper pack, and in dark mode some of the changes I made look sooo dope (at least I think so). WDYT?
Here’s another one.
And another one.
One more cool feature I’ll be using a lot: add text on a curved line without plugins. Just grab the Text tool, hover, click, and type — so much easier now.
Go play around and see what creative things you can make.
Thanks for reading! If this inspired you to tweak your style and you’re part of eiv community, head to the Get Feedback channel, share your iterations, and I’ll review them in my next video feedback session.

Yeah. Very cool
Played with it yesterday, opens up opportunities. Didn’t think of the fonts yet, great one! 👊🏻
