same here Janis... > I regret not doing this earlier. Some of my most viral visuals from years ago are still circulating online without ozo.art on them.
thank you for sharing the reflections on this back in those times 😉
I remember when I first saw you do this and I thought it was such a smart move that I immediately stole it! It can be tricky to get right while keeping the text legible while not taking up too much of the image but when it works right 👨🍳 🤌 💋.
Shame you didn't share the example of the terrible cropping job you saw!
Oh, and just this week I saw someone had taken one of my mental model images that I made before I saw your approach. I had my domain in the bottom right corner and the person cut the whole thing out (but still sent me attribution in their post). I saw it and thought "yeah, I get the boundary might not be people's favourite and it could be executed better — it was something I started doing 3 years ago or something." Then I saw they just added a random watermark at the bottom left of the image themselves! If they're going to change my image, they should at least try and improve it 🤣
Janis, I love how you iterated...Learning so much from your experiments and adapting my watermarks with every visual made. I am still thinking of what would be a relevant short domain for me :)
Love this post. I've struggled with the idea of watermarks for so long and still haven't really figured out how to properly integrate it into my own unique style. I haven't thought about it recently to be honest but I'll need to do so now after reading this.
thanks. yeah. you never know when something pops, and if it pops big, it’ll be everywhere — and you can’t really put the genie back in the bottle. so it’s nice if the post is spreading like crazy with our watermark on it.
I started doing the same thing after seeing yours…my domain was much longer but still worked most of the time.

thanks for sharing, Cris. Ugh, some people just do things. :D

thanks. when it comes to short domains I guess most important so it's memomarable. i dont think it should be .art, there are plenty of cool options.
Love your subtle watermark. I used to see your designs been reposted without refference and watermark just saves the thing.
thank you! yup, that does help a bit :)
